A real revolution in the infusion market is ahead of you! Ilex guayusa is a type of holly, closely related to the popular yerba mate. Although the plant is not yet widely known, it will certainly soon gain the fame it deserves! A guayusa-based infusion contains a whole host of healthy ingredients. In addition, it has an above-average concentration of caffeine and has a wonderful, mild taste. Guayusa has been an important part of Ecuadorian and Peruvian Indian culture for centuries. It proves indispensable during intense physical and mental exertion, e.g. on hunting trips or during religious celebrations. It is only recently that guayusa has begun to attract the interest of consumers from outside the South American cultural circle. The Pachamama brand is a pioneering product in its category on our market and is also one of the first organic guayusa available in Europe! The name "Pachamama" refers to the name of an Incan goddess, patron of South American flora and fauna, including agricultural crops, of which Ilex guayusa is one.
Ilex Guayusa – properties and effects
Guayusa excellently stimulates. Each serving of the brew is approximately 3% pure caffeine, so guayusa is one of the best stimulating beverages! The excellent properties of the infusion are the reason why the number of guayusa lovers continues to grow. People who are exposed to above-average physical and mental exertion are the most likely to use it. Among them, sportsmen, businessmen and programmers are a large group.
Guayusa Pachamama – infusion preparation
There are two ways of brewing guayusa tea:
- Place 2-4 teaspoons of dried tea in a 200-300ml pot. Add boiling water. The infusion can be tasted after about 5 minutes of steeping.
- Add 2-4 tablespoons of guayusa to boiling water (about 500 ml). Boil it for about 3 minutes more and pour it into dishes for tasting.
The delicately vegetal flavour of Ilex guayusa means that the infusion will be great with the addition of juices, fruit or sugar. We may also be tempted to mix it with other herbs, as well as yerba mate itself. The drink can be served both cold and warm.
